Welcome to the Creative Muse Society. While the Society mainly focuses on world building and helping with plots, we do offer critique on original fiction and poetry. We also offer encouraging activities to help get your ideas flowing. Please take a look around. We hope that you decide to join!
The Creative Muse Society, or CMS, is a new board that was originally the Inspired Writers message board. The administration team decided that it was time for a fresh start, and so the Creative Muse Society was born.
Creative Muse Society is a friendly, fast growing, active community for writers. No matter what age or how experienced you are in writing, you are always welcome to join us. Whether it's for hobby or hopeful publication, we strive to give an environment to those who love the written word where they can meet other writers as well as learn from them. The Society mainly focuses on helping others with world building, plotting, and encouraging each other through writing partners. It is our hope that it will grow into a large group of friendly, active writers, all striving towards one creative goal.

Just a friendly reminder that we will be holding word wars in the chat tomorrow at 10 o'clock PM Eastern Time.
That's 7 Pacific which is MY timezone, and I will be in the chat then (as it is my day off tomorrow). So if you can come join us for wars, please do! You don't have to come in to war, we will probably be talking about anything and everything.
Hope to see you tomorrow!
(OMG LOOK I POST STUFF SOMETIMES?!?!?!?!! WOW EVEN I'M SURPRISED! XD)
Since the NaNo board is up and all ready getting active, I decided to make a thread for us in their writers group and clubs section. The thread is here. Please go ahead and say hi and feel free to discuss stuff in the thread as we get closer to NaNo.
As we've said in the mass PMs sent out, starting this week, every Tuesday at 10:00 PM EST we will be in the chat room for word wars and general discussion. You are more than welcome to join us, even if you don't intend on doing any word wars. If you look to the sidebar, you can see a badge under the description that shows how many people are in the chat room. Please feel free to enter any time after 10:00 PM if you see that there are others in there.
The night will not mainly be devoted to word wars, but that will be one of our main goals. If you would like to discuss writing related stuff, you are more than welcome to come. Also, it is not just for members, so feel free to have your friends come in as well.
I totally meant to post about this last night but forgot. XD
Last night I decided to be brave and make a Facebook group for us! You are more than welcome to join it. Hopefully it won't be super inactive, and it'll be a good way to get more people to join the actual board. It's here if you want to check it out.
Last night I made some NaNoWriMo/writing related icons, and I just finished uploading them to the avatar gallery. You are more than welcome to use them. Here are a few as an example:
It's been decided that the chat room no longer needs to be password protected. As such, the lovely "badge" that was in the sidebar when we first got the chat room is now back! You will now be able to know not only when the chat room was last active, but when other people are in the room.
Please feel free to go into the chat room if you'd like to chat with other members. Some of us have Lingr Radar installed so we will be able to see when you say anything in the chat room, and come in if we are around!
I was reading my friendlist on LJ, and at Start Writing, which is essentially a collection of writer's resources that get posted daily/by the hour (or something like that), it was announced that Writer's Digest is already looking for submissions to the 2009 101 Best Sites for Writers.
I would love to do that with Creative Muse Society. This place has been really successful, although over the last few weeks (well, more than that, but whatever) it's been rather quiet and the activity hasn't been as much. If you have any suggestions on how to make that better, this is a good thread to post them in.
The point is that I would -love- to submit CMS, but we need it to be 100% active. We need it to be back to what it was when it was first starting, with tons of people posting new works and discussions and critiquing things. Otherwise, it's not worth submitting, because when the list eventually shows up in Writer's Digest, if we have our name on that list we're going to end up with a -lot- of members who are going to expect this place to be active.
So if you think this is a good idea, let's go for it. Let's figure out some things we can do to make things more active. Part of this will be putting the effort into giving people critiques, which is going to be a little harder now that school is starting up for people. But we can at least try, right?
So, discuss! What can we do to make this place a bit more active than it is?
